Fort Laramie

was an important trading post in the 1800s located in the southeast corner of Wyoming. It was one of the main supply points for those traveling the Oregon, Mormon and California trails. In the 1840s the United States Army took over and it become Fort Laramie. Their main duty was to protect travelers along the trail.
