Cheyenne Frontier Days Tickets: What They Cost and How to Buy Them

There is no single Cheyenne Frontier Days ticket. You buy a rodeo performance, a Frontier Nights concert, a carnival armband, or a gate pass, and each is priced separately. Gate admission to Frontier Park is $5 per person, and it is waived entirely if you already hold a rodeo ticket, a concert ticket, or a carnival armband for that day. The 2027 celebration runs July 23 through August 1. As of early August 2026 the 2027 schedule grid is published and every individual performance still reads “coming soon” on price, which means the numbers below are the ones Cheyenne Frontier Days has actually posted.

That gap matters, because it is where people get taken. Below is what is published, what is not, and what to do about the difference.

When do Cheyenne Frontier Days tickets go on sale?

The full 2027 schedule is up. Individual rodeo and concert tickets are not yet on sale, and the entertainment lineup for Frontier Nights reads “To Be Announced” for seven of the nine nights.

The one thing with a hard date right now is the Season Ticket Club renewal and application deadline of August 31. That is the earliest door into the 2027 event, and it is the only ticket product on the CFD site carrying a real published price today.

Historically the concert lineup lands well before the event. The 2026 slate, archived in July 2026, ran Treaty Oak Revival with Jessie Murph on opening night, then Alex Warren and Noah Cyrus, The Red Clay Strays with Wyatt Flores, Riley Green with Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton with Avery Anna, HARDY with Cameron Whitcomb, and Zach Top with Jo Dee Messina to close. Two of the nine Frontier Nights slots were not concerts at all but PRCA Xtreme Bulls, and the 2027 grid already shows the same two Xtreme Bulls nights on Monday July 26 and Tuesday July 27. If you are buying a concert night, check which one you are actually buying.

All figures read from the official pages on August 2, 2026. Prices move. Read them again before you buy.

Two things jump out of that table. The first is that the rodeo is cheap and the concerts are not. A nine-rodeo season membership for two people starts at $325, which works out to roughly $18 per person per performance for reserved seats you keep year to year. The nine-night concert equivalent starts at $1,260. That ratio tells you what people are really paying for, and it is not the bucking horses.

The second is that gate admission is close to free money for anyone already going to something. If you hold a rodeo ticket, the $5 gate charge disappears, and the Indian Village, Old Frontier Town, the chuckwagon cookoff, the vendor rows, and the grounds are yours for the day.

Which grandstand should you buy?

Cheyenne Frontier Days labels its arena sections by letter. The ADA seating notice on the ticket policy page is the most useful public confirmation of how the arena is laid out: accessible seating exists in the B Grandstands at Level 100 and Level 200, the C Grandstands at Level 100 and Level 200, and the E Grandstands. So B and C are two-level stands and E is single-level.

The C Stand is also the section CFD gives away on Military Monday, which is a fair signal about where it sits in the price ladder. On Military Monday, July 26 in 2027, anyone presenting a military ID (active, Guard, Reserve, retired, or dependent) gets a free C Stand rodeo ticket and free gate admission.

A few things about seating that are published and worth planning around:

• Seating opens one hour before the event. PRCA rodeo seating begins at noon; Frontier Nights seating begins at 7 p.m.
• The performance times conflict on CFD’s own page. The 2027 grid lists every rodeo performance at 12:45 p.m., while the paragraph directly above it says performances begin at 1 p.m. sharp with a pre-show from 12:15 p.m. Plan on being seated by 12:15 and the discrepancy stops mattering.
• The Party Zone is standing room only, general admission, on the dirt arena surface, with no re-entry once you are in. Under-12s are not admitted under any circumstance per CFD policy, and 13 to 16 year olds need an adult over 18 with them. If it rains, you are standing in mud.
• The Rooftop turns into the Rooftop Bar at night and goes 21 and over after dark.

Do children need a ticket?

Children 12 and under are admitted through the main entrance gate at no charge. For ticketed events, children two and under are free provided they sit on a parent’s lap. Everyone over two pays full admission for a ticketed seat, and CFD specifically recommends buying a seat for a child at the night shows rather than holding them.

Where to buy, and where not to

Cheyenne Frontier Days names exactly three authorized sellers: cfdrodeo.com, the ticket office by phone at (307) 778-7222, and the ticket office in person at 1210 W. 8th Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82001, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They take all major credit cards and PayPal.

Everything else is a resale market, and CFD’s policy says plainly that it will not validate tickets bought outside those channels. Two more details from that same policy are worth committing to memory:

1. Printed or scanned PDFs and photocopies are not accepted. Tickets are digital, delivered free, and can be saved to Apple Wallet. A screenshot of somebody’s PDF is a wasted afternoon.
2. The on-site ticket office takes cards only. CFD’s FAQ describes it as “100% CASHLESS” with no exceptions listed. Plan ahead if you were bringing cash.

Season Ticket Club members get a resale program run through the CFD ticket office itself at no extra cost, which is the one resale channel that is actually inside the system.

The two free days

Two dates on the 2027 calendar cost less than the rest, and both are published:

• Military Monday, July 26. Free C Stand rodeo ticket and free gate admission with a military ID (active, Guard, Reserve, retired, or dependent). Note that this is also an Xtreme Bulls night rather than a concert night.
• Cheyenne / Laramie County Day, July 28. Free gate admission with a valid Laramie County ID. Visit Cheyenne also lists a $5 discount on the carnival armband for county residents that day.

Separately, CFD points veterans, active-duty military, first responders and their families at the Veteran Tickets Foundation (vettix.org) and the First Tickets Foundation (1sttix.org) for limited promotional tickets. Those are third-party programs with their own eligibility rules, so check availability there rather than assuming.

What you get without buying a rodeo ticket at all

A $5 gate pass is a real option, and for a family it may be the smarter one. Inside Frontier Park without a rodeo seat you still get the Indian Village, which has been part of Frontier Days since 1898, the Old Frontier Town reenactor grounds, the chuckwagon cookoff, the Western art show, the vendor rows, and the CFD Old West Museum.

Off the park entirely, and free:

• The Grand Parade, which Visit Cheyenne lists at 9 a.m. on both Saturdays plus Tuesday and Thursday, running about 90 minutes through downtown. CFD’s own FAQ says only “parades start at 9 a.m. sharp.”
• The pancake breakfasts, listed by Visit Cheyenne as Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 9 a.m., serving more than 100,000 flapjacks across the run. Service dogs only; Wyoming food rules keep other animals out.

Getting in: parking and the shuttle

Frontier Park parking is $25 per vehicle, card only, entered from Warren Avenue or Carey Avenue. Lots close at 1 a.m. and no overnight camping is allowed in them.

The Park-n-Ride is $20 per vehicle, also card only, at I-25 and Happy Jack (exit 10D from either direction), with buses running a five minute ride to the park all day. In 2026 the shuttle ran 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on July 17 through 25, and 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the closing day. The 2027 hours were not posted as of August 2026, but expect the same shape.

There is also a free Downtown Express Shuttle between Frontier Park and downtown Cheyenne. In 2026 it ran noon to 8 p.m. on July 18 and July 20 through 25, picking up on 8th Avenue outside the main entrance and on the north side of the parking garage at 17th Street and Pioneer Avenue. If you are staying downtown, that shuttle plus a $5 gate pass is the cheapest honest day at Frontier Days there is.

What you can carry through the gate

This is the part that costs people money at the fence, because the wrong bag gets sent back to a truck that is a fifteen minute walk away.

Permitted: bags under 12 by 6 by 12 inches, binoculars and cameras, diaper bags after inspection, extra clothing, a flat seat cushion, and medical items after inspection. In the Party Zone the bag rule tightens to a clutch under 4.5 by 6.5 inches on a wrist strap, no crossbody.

Prohibited: any bag, fanny pack or clutch over 12 by 6 by 12 inches, backpacks, coolers of any kind, outside food or drink, aluminum bottles, cans, thermoses or water bottles, chairbacks, camera bags, binocular cases, computer bags, aerosols, noisemakers, weapons of any kind whether concealed or not, and animals other than service dogs. Small soft-sided coolers up to 14 by 14 by 14 inches get a need-based exception after inspection for things like formula and medication.

Read that list twice and three purchases follow from it:

A flat seat cushion, not a stadium chair. CFD permits a flat cushion by name and bans chairbacks by name, so the folding stadium seat that works everywhere else gets turned away here. The stands are aluminum and you will be on them for three hours. A flat foam or gel stadium cushion is about the cheapest comfort upgrade available and it slides into a permitted bag.

Binoculars, but leave the case in the truck. Binoculars are on the permitted list and binocular cases are on the prohibited list, which is an odd pairing until you are the one holding it up at the gate. Frontier Park’s arena is large and the far chutes are a long way from the cheap seats. A compact roof-prism binocular in the 8x25 to 10x28 range rides bare in a jacket pocket and turns row 40 into row 8.

A bag that measures out. The published ceiling is 12 by 6 by 12 inches. Measure the one you own rather than guessing. If it is over, a small crossbody under 12 by 6 by 12 solves it, and for a Party Zone night you need the much smaller wrist clutch instead.

One thing not to buy for inside the gate: a water bottle. Outside drinks and thermoses are prohibited, so an insulated bottle earns its keep on the drive in and in the truck at the Park-n-Ride, not in the stands. Buy water on the grounds and budget for it.

The 2027 schedule at a glance

Rodeo, ten performances, all listed at 12:45 p.m.: qualifying rounds Friday July 23 through Wednesday July 28, semifinals Thursday July 29 through Saturday July 31, finals Sunday August 1.

Frontier Nights, nine nights at 8 p.m., July 23 through 31: Monday July 26 and Tuesday July 27 are PRCA Xtreme Bulls. The other seven were still to be announced as of August 2026.

If you want the same seats every year rather than fighting the on-sale, the Season Ticket Clubs are how regulars do it: same seats annually, digital tickets, payment plans of one, two or four installments, and a resale route through the ticket office when you cannot make a night. The renewal window closes August 31.
